Great spot in Cartside. Delicious gumbo, made to order. Not usually into okra, but they've got a secret to keep it from being slimy or overhard - always just right. Even the small serving is pretty massive. Always piping hot, bold and bright (with a lemon wedge on the side) and really hits on a cold day. Super friendly owner/operator - always offers hot sauce (definitely tastes like a Louisiana hot sauce, but seems a little bit thicker than Crystal's?) and creole seasoning, always take him up on them: if you like things on the spicier end of the spectrum, these really deliver on getting the heat to your level (base is really flavorful, and has to appeal to a broad palate, right?) Writing this on my third or fourth trip here. Needless to say, I highly recommend this Portland treasure of Louisiana cooking. Good service, good food, and really a great price for the quantity you get- there's more than just mumbo to this gumbo.

Found this cart at the new carts and tavern near Moda center. Wow what a find. It was a cold rainy day and needed something to warm up with. Chose to try some gumbo instead of the other carts. Man am I glad I did! The gumbo was spot on! Full of flavor, made with the proper ingredients, and the right way. I can definitely tell that they are proud of what they serve. The bowls presentation matched the great flavor. Not only was the seasoning on point, but even the rice was nicely cooked and the lemon wedge was fresh. It was such a treat to find a great gumbo cart. We left warm, full and satisfied after dining here. The guy at the cart was also nice and helpful and pretty quick at serving. 100% recommend and will definitely be back when we are in the area.

Outstanding food! The cook is wonderful and helpful about what is gluten free! The portion sizes are very large but you will not want your stop eating them! We were certain we wanted to come here after the ear piercing. So, we had called the night before and found out most of their food is gluten free except the gumbo. My husband is gluten free so I had the Trinity gumbo. He had the red beans and rice. Hands down some of the best we have had! I would recommend to anyone looking for Cajun in PDX. My husband was told about this spot from a coworker and we looked it up. We love Cajun food, so it was a must try. We would go back in a heartbeat. If you have a good allergy, call them and they know all of their ingredients/spices well to aide you. I can’t wait to go back!

Hey, there’s some places (like your website) that says you’re open until 2am. I came about 15 ‘til 1am & ordered my food. I thought the guy was upset to take my order, which made me confused because I thought I had still had 1hr & 15mins until close. The food was delicious (I’ve come to learn, I like my Gumbo cold) & the Banana Pudding was even better. I appreciate the guy taking my order, thought you guys should be aware of the confusion of when your business closes. Didn’t mean to come right at the end. Your product delivers.

This food cart really surprised me. As a southerner born and raised, I am skeptical of the southern/Cajun food I find elsewhere and am mostly disappointed with what I find. Not here! They have very authentic offerings. I could tell by the smell when walking up that they had the spices right. My daughters shrimp sandwich (Nipsy hussle) was super good. The Gumbo, however, was absolutely awesome! Thick, savory, spiced well, authentic, and delicious. Put this cart on your itinerary when visiting Moda center. You won't be disappointed. Oooooeeee!

A special little restaurant hidden away off Foster & off 52nd. Parking on the street so you can stop to eat or pick up to go. The food is like none other the gumbo is really tasty with the shrimp. There quick in preparing the food & delicious . There are picnic tables you can eat at. Friendly atmosphere, and a nice person works there. The menu is great for any time of year. The banana pudding is very tasty and a good into your meal, which is very filling. Nutritious meal!

I'm a big fan of mumbo gumbo and I enjoy coming here and also their grits n gravy location. The portion sizes are great and the good is spot on(though I wish it were a bit spicier). The people who work here are awesome. The seating area available is nice, all around a great food cart pod too.

My all time favorite place to stop for food when I'm in town! Food is divine, bro always friendly, taking care and pride into each dish, and I love the fact that the outdoor seating has at least a bit of heat. Bonus the lounge next to it wesker you can get something to sip while you wait!
